Redpath USA Corporation a premier full-service underground mining contractor is in search of a Underground QA/QC Technician to join our project at the Kennecott Copper Project near Salt Lake City, Utah.

Job Summary:

The primary role of the QA/QC Technician is to develop and oversee the site’s quality management plan, as it applies to the development of the underground mining operations.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Complies with and ensure compliance with Redpath’s Policies and Procedures as detailed in the appropriate manuals, handbooks, directives, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  2. Responsible to keep work areas safe and free of hazards. Performs Field Level Risk Assessments.
  3. Ensure all systems and procedures are in place for safe, productive, and a high-quality work.
  4. Must be able to follow proper procedure to ensure safety and to control equipment damage.
  5. Develop and implement a comprehensive quality assurance strategy for the construction project.
  6. Create quality assurance plans and procedures in alignment with industry standards and client specifications.
  7. Oversee quality control activities across all phases of the mining cycle.
  8. Maintain and manage all quality control documentation and records, ensuring they are accurate and up to date.
  9. Identify and report non-conformances and deviations from quality standards.
  10. Implement corrective and preventive actions to address issues and prevent their recurrence.
  11. Work with procurement to ensure materials and services meet the specified quality standards.
  12. Maintain open and transparent communications with the client regarding quality-related matters, including progress, issues, and resolutions.
  13. Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall project quality and efficiency.
  14. Analyze quality metrics and data to identify areas for improvement.
  15. Document and report key performance indicators related to quality.
  16. Prepare and submit Monthly QA/QC reports to the client and other stakeholders.
  17. Complete any tasks, assignments, or requests of the Sr. Project Engineers.
  18. If required to operate a company vehicle during the course of employment, must meet the requirements to be an eligible user of company vehicles. Must possess a current State Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
  19. Comply with daily, weekly, and monthly safety directives, policies, and procedures.
  20. Maintain confidentiality with respect to Redpath and client information.
  21. Able to work in excess of 40 hours a week, overtime, day and nights, weekends, holidays and shift rotations.
  22. Compliance with Redpath Core Competencies is an essential duty and responsibility.

Education:

  1. Mining/Mechanical/Civil Engineering Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent underground experience.

 

Work Experience:

  1. 1-2 years’ experience in an underground mine. – Preferred

 

Knowledge Required:

  1. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. – Required
  2. Ability to multitask and work effectively. – Required
  3. Ability to safely use and handle a variety of tools, equipment, and materials. – Required
  4. Ability to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently. – Required
  5. Ability to read and understand engineering prints (civil work, structural work, rock excavation work). – Required
  6. Ability to work as part of a project planning team. – Required
  7. Previous quality experience. – Preferred
  8. MSHA Underground miner training. – Required
  9. Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions as required to perform his duties in a safe and efficient manner. – Required

 

Other Requirements:

  1. Ability to pass background clearance check, drug screening and physical.
  2. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  3. Ability to prepare written reports and correspondence.
  4. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  5. Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.
  6. High level of attention to detail, neatness, and accuracy.
  7. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
