Job Description

The primary role of the Mechanic is to perform preventive maintenance and repairs to diesel, electrical, hydraulic and air operated equipment. This includes mobile equipment, drills, small tools and miscellaneous equipment of a similar nature. Candidate must be experienced with reading manufacturers equipment manuals for parts and read electrical and hydraulic blue prints and properly maintaining: Sandvik Solo series longhole drills and other related equipment such as Epiroc Jumbos, Cat Scoops R1300 & 1600 and AD30 Cat Trucks.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Read manufactures equipment manuals as well as electrical and hydraulic blue prints.
  • 3 years’ maintenance and repairs to underground mining equipment (Electric Hydraulic Jumbo, MacLean Bolters, CAT Series Loaders, 30 Tone trucks, remote scoop)
  • Journeyman Certification (preferred)
  • Knowledge of mining industry 
  • Basic Underground Hard Rock Mine Services (Ontario)

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions as required to perform his duties in a safe and efficient manner
  • Complete detailed reports of repair work completed, maintain equipment logs.
  • Must be able to follow proper procedure to ensure safety and to control equipment damage

 

Health and Safety:

  • Follow Company and Client health and safety standards and report all unsafe acts or conditions to supervisor
  • Practice proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment
  • Work in accordance with local legislation
