Requirement:

  • 2 years’ experience operating a 2900 remote scoop (approximately 11 yard scoop)
  • Must speak french
  • FMTM (Formation Modulaire du Québec) or Underground Hard Rock Mining Common Core (Ontario)
  • Permis Général d’Explosifs or able to obtain one as soon as possible
  • Valid drivers permit

 

Job Summary:

The primary role of the Remote Scoop Operator is to operate mining equipment to load, haul and dump ore or waste from development and/or production area in a safe manner

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

General:

  • Refuel, check coolant and engine and hydraulic oils, lubricate all points and complete standard daily check forms and drives equipment to and from work area
  • Visually inspects, sounds, scales and washes down work area, if required
  • Operates manual and remote scoop tram to load bucket with ore/waste; hauls to dump or loads onto truck, and transports mine supplies
  • Advances vent tubing, installs or removes air and water pipes to facilitate own work
  • Operate traffic control signals where applicable and respond to signals to prevent a vehicle accident
  • Completes daily log book on equipment and submits written and verbal reports
  • Report progress and any unusual occurrences to supervisor
  • Maintains working area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition
  • Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions as required to perform his duties in a safe and efficient manner

 Health and Safety:

  • Having the authority and responsibility to maintain a safe and efficient working environment
  • Following Company health and safety standards and reporting any unsafe acts or conditions to Supervisor
  • Responsible for the use and maintenance of all safety equipment, i.e.  Lanyards, warning signs and labeling, according to company rules and applicable legislation.
  • Responsible to ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment.
  • Must have knowledge of the WHMIS legislation and know how to effectively use an MSDS sheet.

 

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Post-Secondary education in a mining related discipline or equivalent experience

 

Knowledge Required

  • Ability to multi task and work effectively
  • Ability to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently
  • Ability to make decisions quickly
  • Good communication skills
  • Must speak French
