Flight provided or travel paid. Charter flights from Rouyn-Noranda or Montréal.

Wages:

Starting at $183,200 annually plus vacation and overtime pay and retention bonus

Pre-employment requirements:

 

  • FMTM (Formation Modulaire du Québec) or Underground Hard Rock Mining Common Core (Ontario)
  • Permis Général d’Explosifs or able to obtain one as soon as possible
  • Drug test
  • Medical

 

Job Summary :

 

The primary role of the Project Superintendent is to ensure that the construction of the project progresses according to plan and is completed to standards.

The Project Superintendent is to administer, direct and coordinate the activities of the mine development, construction and maintenance crews, and to coordinate and request the necessary equipment, materials, and supplies needed for the project. The Project Superintendent plays a critical role in all of Redpath’s activities within a project with direct responsibility for health and safety, contract performance and client relations.

 

Required Skills and Qualifications :

  • Ontario Hard Rock Underground Common Core – Full Basic (or other provincial equivalent) - Preferred
    • Required Specialty Modules: Ontario Supervisory Common Core (or other provincial equivalent) - Preferred
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Post-Secondary education in a mining related discipline or equivalent experience (preferred)
  • Minimum of 15 years underground hard rock mining experience with 5 years at a second line Supervisory level
  • Must understand responsibilities of leadership
  • Advanced understanding of mine regulations pertaining to task
  • Ability to conduct risk assessment of specific task

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Effectively supervise and coach performance by directing and coordinating all underground operations to:
  • Enhance the team’s capacity to complete planning, scheduling and execution packages.
  • Ensure supervisors pre-plan their day and are provided with contingencies
  • Work with maintenance and engineering departments to ensure daily, weekly and monthly plans are aligned
  • Comply with all prescribed legislated requirements
  • Ensure complete and accurate turnover information is provided for oncoming shift
  • Conduct frequent reviews of safety process and standard operating procedures and ensure that the safety program and all safety procedures are adhered to
  • Participate in incident/accident investigations and reporting
  • Ensure that mining activities are completed according to “Quality Plan” and “Best Practices”
  • Prepare Daily and weekly Reports for the Area Manager as directed
  • Review time reports, approve and cost code the hours of the mining crews
  • Requisition needed equipment, materials, and supplies
  • Responsible to assign resources to approved Continuous Improvement Initiatives

Health and Safety :

  • Follow Company and Client health and safety standards and report all unsafe acts or conditions to supervisor
  • Responsible to ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment
