Job Description:

The Senior Advisor Development will be providing coaching and mentoring to the UDS National Operations Leadership Team to manage and decisively lead all aspects of underground operations including environmental, health and safety initiatives, supervisor and employee development, project management, cost management and building a constructive and positive working relationship with the Client.
 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Coach the National Superintendents to manage all activities of the underground operations
  • Provide guidance to Operations Leadership, and to support the implementation of productivity improvements with a focus on business goals
  • Provide guidance in defining and implementing customised performance metrics and benchmarking across the Operations Team, understanding what “good” looks like with respect to business goals, and being part of a team to identify the right suite of projects to support and deliver
  • Encourage and support the National Leadership to champion productivity improvement programs across Operations’ value chains
  • Provide guidance in overseeing the quality and inspecting the operation with regards to Client and Internal safety standards
  • Assist National UDS Development Manager with management duties, such as recruitment, training, overseeing KPI administration, and liaising and negotiating with the Client and other stakeholders
  • Coach the National Superintendents on effective and efficient allocation of mining resources as measured by schedule compliance
  • Identify and coach the National Operations Leadership Team in continuous improvement and cost control
  • Ensure compliance of Company local and corporate policies and procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Ensuring accountability of Expat Execution and Support Teams
  • Conduct internal performance reviews on both the Expat and National Operations Leadership Team

Qualifications and Work Experience:

  • Degree in Mining Engineering with a professional designation or trade combined with extensive underground mining experience
  • Minimum 10 years of underground leadership and supervisory experience
  • An in-depth understanding of underground mine development, planning, and rock mechanics
  • An in-depth understanding of mine safety legislation and regulations
  • An in-depth understanding of underground mining practices, policies, procedures and standards
  • An in-depth understanding of underground mining project management including budgeting, costing, scheduling, financial, evaluation and reporting
  • An in-depth understanding of underground equipment and emerging technologies
  • A sound understanding of human resource management and motivation practices and techniques
  • Knowledge of computer programs including standard office programs
  • Proven ability to manage mining projects including developing and reviewing plans, schedules and budgets, project implementation and oversight
  • Proven leadership skills including the ability to lead and motivate individuals and teams
