MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Matric certificate/ equivalent

Section 13 Trade Test or Section 26D as a qualified electrician

At least 5 years’ underground shaft experience

MV certificate Compulsory

Valid driver’s license

Medically fit

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Equipment installation, repairs, and maintenance in Decline infrastructure

Workshop procedures, installation, and maintenance

Legal requirement as per Mine Health and Safety act

Installation and maintenance of machinery including HT switchgear

Maintenance of quality engineering standards

Knowledge of environmental, health and safety standards

Working knowledge of the Min, Health & Safety Act and Regulations

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Report on all incidents and accidents

Risk assessments must be carried out for each task

Ensure tools and equipment is sufficient, in good condition and safe to use

All legal inspections must be carried out according to the time intervals and a true report is recorded in a record book

Report and act on all unsafe conditions and unsafe acts

Be responsible for his/her sub-ordinates, maintenance schedules are to be adhered to,

The individual is responsible to carry out the planned maintenance as pre the maintenance schedule

Ensure that the housekeeping in the workshop/working area is adequate to carry out maintenance work
