Redpath Botswana are excited to be looking for a Project Engineer for the Jwaneng Underground Mining Development Project.
The role as a Project Engineer is responsible for planning, scheduling and project engineering of site projects from concept to completion and reporting production progress on the site and providing quality assurance and quality control services, risk and safety management. In this position you will build, develop and maintain the client relationship by ensuring the accurate monitoring of project progress and continually advising on the status of the project.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Maintain the Quality, Environmental and Mining Records for the project;
- Develop the short to medium term mine plans for the underground operation, ensuring all key mining physicals are achieved in line with the principles quarterly mine plan;
- All aspects of drill and blast design are reviewed for execution;
- All aspects of paste backfill design, reviewed for execution;
- All aspects of mine ventilation are working effectively;
- Provide technical support and quality control of the works in accordance with the Contract Specification and the relevant Statutory Regulations;
- Inspect work at frequent intervals to ensure work quality meets stated objectives and the required environmental controls are in place;
- EOM People Report (to send to HSEQ Manager by 4th of new month);
- EOM Turnover Report;
- Planned vs Unplanned Component Cost Sheet;
- Major Maintenance Planner Sheet;
- Monitoring Component Usage Sheet; and
- Labour estimate (built off roster to compare to actual costs).
Minimum qualifications and experience required for this position:
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Mining) or related field;
- Underground time required is completed, to enable the obtaining of a First Class Mine Managers certificate of Competency or equivalent Minimum 10 years’ underground mining experience
- Experience needed on all mobile equipment for maintenance purposes.
- Knowledge and application of safe and reliable mechanical maintenance practices to maximise equipment availability and productivity;
- In-depth and extensive knowledge and application of contemporary underground mining practices to maximise safety and productivity.
- Minimum 10 Years’ experience managing Underground Projects;
- Sound knowledge of underground development and production in mining fields;
- Current Site Safety Health Representative qualification (formely S1, S2 & S3);
- Current G1 Safety Induction - Metalliferous Core & Underground;
