MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Matric certificate/ equivalent

Payroll related qualification or equivalent

Tax Reconciliation Certificate

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Microsoft Office (Advance Ms. Excel and MS Teams)

Accuracy and attention to detail

Understanding of accounting and payroll

Upholding professional ethics and confidentiality

Knowledge of Managing Methods of Calculation on the Payroll System

5 to 10 years Payroll experience

Implementation of payroll rules

Experience in reconciliations and statutory payments

Experience in Medical Aid, Pension and Provident fund administration

Working knowledge of applicable legislation inclusive of BCEA, LRA, EEA, SDA & SDLA

PaySpace knowledge or similar outsourced payroll service provider

Effective control procedures & measures

Income Tax Act – Employee specific aspects

Experience in translating conditions of employment into effective policies & procedures

Rand Mutual Assurance experience

Knowledge of Benchmarking is advantageous

Experience in African Countries (Expats) payroll regulations

Past experience of systems and process improvements and continuous improvements of systems

Self-starter looking to drive change

Ability to lead a team and work well across other functions within the business

Excellent interpersonal skills

Effective communication skills both verbal and written

Strong Decision-making skills

Ability to work independently

Good administrative skills

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Review and verify relevant data for the pay run

Oversee Payroll Team (Coaching and upskilling)

Confirm cost code accuracy & distribute

Reconcile & prepare statutory payments

Departmental budget reconciliation and management

Compilation and reconciling headcount reports and schedules

Reconcile general ledger clearing accounts

Do a reasonable test on value of pay run

Prepare payments for HOD’s and ultimately Financial Directors authorisation

Complying with the Auditing requirements

Collaboration with key stakeholders

Attending to Costing and Forecasting requirements

Identify discrepancies and anomalies and address with relevant managers ahead of finalizing payroll

Employee Self Service management
