We are seeking a qualified and experienced Construction Engineer – Underground Mining to join our team at the Jwaneng Project. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing and coordinating underground construction activities to ensure the safe, timely, and cost-effective completion of works.

Key Responsibilities

1. Plan and oversee underground construction engineering activities, including excavation, support installation, and infrastructure development.

2. Review and interpret design drawings, specifications, and technical documentation for compliance and accuracy.

3. Coordinate and supervise construction teams and subcontractors to ensure efficient daily operations.

4. Monitor project progress against schedules and budgets, implementing corrective measures where required.

5. Enforce safety, health, and environmental standards in accordance with Redpath policies and statutory requirements.

6. Identify and mitigate technical and operational risks associated with underground construction.

7. Collaborate with project management, design, and safety teams to resolve technical challenges.

8. Prepare detailed progress and technical reports for management and client review.

9. Oversee installation and commissioning of underground infrastructure, systems, and equipment.

10. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to construction teams, promoting a strong safety and performance culture.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mining, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in underground mining construction or project engineering.

• Proven track record in shaft sinking, tunnelling, or underground infrastructure projects.

• Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, quality control, and project management principles.

• Excellent leadership, analytical, and communication skills.

• Proficiency in engineering and project planning software will be an advantage.

• Familiarity with Botswana mining regulations and standards will be an asset.
