Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct underground survey operations, including establishing reference points, monitoring mining face advances, and mapping mine layouts.

  • Calibrate and operate underground survey equipment, drilling tools, and loading instruments for high-accuracy results.

  • Reconcile actual mining against plans and short-term objectives, recommending corrective actions.

  • Design underground panel layouts and drill patterns in collaboration with the Mining team.

  • Set out mining limits and levels to guide underground excavation and loading.

  • Maintain legal plans, spatial data, and compliance with corporate governance and underground mining regulations.

  • Monitor and update underground spatial databases, producing plan updates and volumetric calculations.

  • Validate, reconcile, and report production against survey data for official reporting.

  • Conduct surveys of underground stockpiles, waste dumps, and mining sections.

  • Implement and control Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) programs in the underground environment.

  • Analyse data from remote sensing and other sources to detect subsidence or deformation trends underground.

  • Manage, mentor, and coach survey staff to ensure compliance with company policies and technical standards.

Minimum Education & Experience:

  • Degree in Geomatics, Mine Surveying, or Equivalent

  • Valid Class B Driver’s License

  • 4 years post-graduate experience in the underground mining environment

  • Membership of Institute of Mine Surveyors of Southern Africa or equivalent is an advantage
