MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Matric certificate or equivalent

A relevant competency certificate

Previously employed in an underground cable bolt role

A valid driver’s license

Medically fit to work underground

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

3 years’ experience in underground cable bolting with Sandvik cable bolter background.

Ability to read and interpret cable bolt layouts and ground support plans.

Understanding of ground supports standards and requirements.

Mechanical aptitude for equipment operation and basic troubleshooting.

Strong commitment to safety and teamwork.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Operate mechanized cable bolting rigs to drill holes and install cable bolts, rock bolts and mesh.

Prepare, cut, insert cables and mix/pump grout to encapsulate them, ensuring full coverage as per specification.

Ensure correct hole depth, angles, tension, and placement avoiding over/under drilling.

Conduct pre-start checks and adhere to all safety policies and procedures.

Perform routine maintenance, clean equipment and report defects and abnormalities to supervisors.

Complete accurate daily activity, safety reports.

Maintain good housekeeping in work areas.
