MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Matric certificate/ equivalent

Section 13 Mechanical/Electrical Trade Certificate or Section 26D Trade

5 - 10 years’ experience as appointed Foreman in mining underground industry (Mechanical & Electrical)

5 - 10 years’ experience in mine development environment

Trackless Machinery experience

Competent B is a MUST

Valid driver’s license – Code 08

Medical Fitness Certificate

Valid First Aid Certificate

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure that the area of operation & competence of the team complies with MHSA & regulations

Comply to Unit Standards, procedures & Code of Best Practice

Complete your legal documentation & other requirements before the end of the shift

Identify & procure optimum requisite equipment, consumables and parts

Optimize cost effectiveness of equipment consumables and parts by providing specifications on equipment & parts required

Analyse systems of works to identify maximum capacities

Develop & implement an action plan to address each strength, weakness, opportunity and threat in area of expertise

Coordinate activities of sections: maintenance, engineering, planning maintenance research & development, to improve operational efficiency and economy of scale

Draw up a maintenance schedule and ensure it is followed to prevent breakdown maintenance

Analyse department budget requests to identify areas where reductions can be made & allocate maintenance budget

Confer with administrative personnel and review activity, operating, and maintenance reports to determine changes in programs, systems & operations required to improve outcomes
