Artisan Fitter

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Matric certificate / equivalent

Section 13 Trade Test or section 26D as a qualified fitter and or diesel mechanic

Competent B is advantageous

Valid Driver’s license

Medically fit to work underground

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

At least 3 years’ underground trackless development experience

Working knowledge of the Mine, Health & Safety Act and Regulations

Trackless experience with major OEM’s (Sandvik, Epiroc and Normet) will be advantageous

Understanding and use of asset management systems

Detail knowledge of hydraulic systems and fault finding

Responsible for inspecting, testing, repairing, maintaining, replacing & commissioning of all mechanical installations, equipment & machinery within your working area

Ensure appropriate usage of machinery, equipment, tools & material

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Report on all incidents and accidents

Risk assessments must be carried out for each task

Ensure tools and equipment are sufficient, in good condition and safe to use

All legal inspections must be carried out according to the time intervals and true reports are recorded in the record book

Report and act on all unsafe conditions and unsafe acts

Be responsible for his/her sub-ordinates, maintenance schedule is to be adhered to.

Ensure that all the spares and tools are available for the service

Ensure that the housekeeping in the workshop/working area is adequate to conduct maintenance wor
