MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Matric certificate / equivalent

Grade 12

Relevant qualification in Procurement

5 years’ experience in store control & procurement

Drivers Licence – Code 08

Computer literacy - MS Office; e-mail & internet

Advanced knowledge of inventory control systems.

Procurement and contract management knowledge.

Strong analytical and reporting abilities.

Financial awareness and budget control.

Microsoft Office and ERP inventory systems proficiency.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational Execution:

 

SHEQ and Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA), company policies, and applicable legislation.
  • Promote and maintain a culture of safety, quality, and environmental responsibility.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of stores operations.
  • Ensure all inventory activities comply with internal controls and governance requirements.

Inventory Management

  • Develop and maintain effective inventory management systems and controls.
  • Monitor stock levels and ensure optimum inventory holdings.
  • Review stock discrepancies, investigate variances, and implement corrective actions.
  • Approve stock count schedules and verify annual stock-take results.
  • Ensure critical spares and consumables are available to support operational requirements.

Stores and Warehouse Management

  • Ensure accurate receiving, storage, preservation, and issuing of materials.
  • Monitor warehouse utilization and inventory security.
  • Ensure proper storage methods are followed for all materials and equipment.
  • Implement best practices in warehousing and logistics management.

Financial and Reporting Responsibilities

  • Monitor inventory costs and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Review and approve stores’ reports.
  • Analyze inventory trends, stock usage, and slow-moving stock.
  • Support forecasting activities related to inventory.

Leadership and People Management

  • Supervise and support the Stores Controller in daily operations.
  • Conduct performance reviews and development planning.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and training to employees.
  • Manage discipline and employee relations within the department.
  • Promote teamwork and continuous improvement initiatives.

Stakeholder Management

  • Liaise with operational departments to understand material requirements.
  • Collaborate with finance, procurement, and project management teams.
  • Maintain effective relationships with suppliers and service providers.
  • Provide management with accurate inventory information for decision-making
