Dayan Contract Mining is seeking an Advisor - Development & Block Cave Production to support Underground Mine Captains and Supervisors in achieving safe, consistent, and productive underground development and production outcomes.

This role is focused on strengthening frontline leadership capability, crew effectiveness, and operational discipline across both development and block cave production activities. Working closely with Mine Captains and Supervisors, the Advisor provides practical coaching, mentoring, and field-based leadership support to enhance workforce performance, operational readiness, and excellence.

The position plays a key role in supporting the achievement of shift, weekly, and monthly operational objectives by reinforcing strong leadership practices, promoting accountability, and ensuring adherence to safety standards and operational requirements. Through active engagement in the field, the Advisor helps develop leadership capability, improve crew performance, and drive consistent delivery of Safety, Quality, Development Advance, and Production targets while maintaining shift-to-shift operational continuity and discipline.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Supporting Mine Captains in leading underground development and production crews to meet safety and production expectations
  • Providing practical coaching and mentoring to Mine Captains and supervisors on people leadership, performance management, and crew accountability
  • Assisting with the consistent achievement of development advance and production targets set by the client through effective frontline leadership coaching, mentoring, and the application of block cave mining best practices. Supporting Mine Captains and Supervisors to enhance operational discipline, strengthen crew performance, and drive safe, productive, and sustainable outcomes across underground development and production activities.
  • Supporting crew capability, role readiness, and onboarding to maintain shift to shift continuity and operational stability
  • Identifying people and capability gaps that may impact development schedules, production outcomes, or safety performance
  • Reinforcing agreed standards, expectations, and leadership behavior across development and production areas
  • Supporting accurate oversight of competency, authorizations, and compliance requirements as part of Mine Captain accountability
  • Escalating emerging people or capability risks to senior leadership where required

Qualifications and Work Experience:

  • Degree in Mining Engineering with a professional designation or trade combined with extensive underground mining experience
  • Minimum 10 years of underground leadership and supervisory experience
  • An in-depth understanding of underground mine development, planning, and rock mechanics
  • An in-depth understanding of mine safety legislation and regulations
  • An in-depth understanding of underground mining practices, policies, procedures and standards
  • An in-depth understanding of underground mining project management including budgeting, costing, scheduling, financial, evaluation and reporting
  • An in-depth understanding of underground equipment and emerging technologies
  • A sound understanding of human resource management and motivation practices and techniques
  • Knowledge of computer programs including standard office programs
  • Proven ability to manage mining projects including developing and reviewing plans, schedules and budgets, project implementation and oversight
  • Proven leadership skills including the ability to lead and motivate individuals and teams

You bring extensive underground mining experience, with exposure to both development and block cave production activities. You are confident working alongside National Mine Captains and frontline crews, with established credibility in the field and a strong understanding of how leadership effectiveness and crew performance influence Safety, Quality, Development Advance, Production outcomes, and shift-to-shift operational consistency. Your practical operational knowledge enables you to support sustainable performance improvement, strengthen workforce capability, and drive disciplined execution across underground operations.
