MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Matric certificate / equivalent

Blasting Certificate & Shift Supervisor/Foreman certificate.

First Aid Certificate

Minimum 10–15 years' experience in shaft sinking or mining environment.

Minimum 5 years' experience as a shift foreman/shift boss.

Proven experience managing large multidisciplinary teams.

Extensive experience in vertical sinking construction.

Previous experience working in African mining environments is highly desirable.

Experience in workforce development, mentoring, and skills transfer preferred.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead and coordinate daily operational activities to ensure production and project targets are achieved.

Ensure work is executed according to approved plans, schedules, procedures, and specifications.

Allocate manpower, equipment, tools, and materials effectively to optimize productivity.

Monitor operational performance and implement corrective actions where necessary.

Coordinate activities between operations, engineering, maintenance, SHEQT, and support departments.

Verify that work standards, quality requirements, and operational objectives are consistently achieved.

Identify operational constraints and develop practical solutions to improve performance.

Support the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.

Monitor workplace productivity and ensure efficient use of resources.

Promote and maintain a strong safety culture throughout all operational activities. Ensure compliance with: Mines, Quarries, Works and Machinery Act (Cap 44:02), Mines, Quarries, Works and Machinery Regulations, Employment Act (Cap 47:01), Workers' Compensation legislation, Environmental legislation and permit requirements, Company SHEQT policies and procedures and Client site standards and requirements

Conduct workplace inspections, risk assessments, and safety observations.

Lead toolbox talks and shift safety meetings. Ensure all incidents, accidents, and near misses are reported and investigated. Monitor implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions.

Ensure employees understand and comply with safe work procedures.

Promote environmental awareness and compliance.

Ensure quality standards and operational controls are maintained.

Monitor production output and operational performance against approved targets.

Review production reports and identify areas requiring improvement.

Investigate production losses, delays, and inefficiencies.

Ensure operational activities align with company objectives and client expectations.

Drive operational excellence and performance improvement initiatives.

Monitor resource utilization and productivity trends.

Ensure equipment is available, maintained, and utilized effectively.

Coordinate maintenance activities with engineering and maintenance departments.

Conduct equipment inspections and monitor operational readiness.

Monitor material usage and operational resource requirements.

Ensure defects and maintenance issues are reported and addressed promptly.

Support asset management and reliability improvement initiatives.

Compile and submit: Daily production reports, Weekly operational reports, Safety reports, Labour utilization reports and Equipment performance reports, Maintain accurate shift and workforce records.

Monitor and report operational KPIs, Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and timeously.

Support management reporting requirements and operational reviews.
