The Procurement Supervisor is responsible for supervising procurement activities for Redpath Mexicana, including the timely acquisition of materials, equipment, parts, supplies, and services required to support mining projects, operations, maintenance, and administration. This role provides leadership to procurement personnel, supports supplier development and contract administration, ensures purchasing activities comply with Redpath policies and applicable Mexican requirements, and works closely with operations, finance, logistics, warehouse, customs brokers, and project teams to deliver safe, cost-effective, and reliable supply chain support.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise procurement personnel, assign daily work, balance workloads, and provide coaching, training, and performance feedback.
  • Oversee the full purchasing cycle, including requisition review, sourcing, quotation analysis, purchase order issuance, expediting, receiving follow-up, invoice resolution, and closeout.
  • Support Redpath Mexicana projects and sites by ensuring materials, equipment, parts, consumables, and services are procured in alignment with operational schedules and project priorities.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with Mexican and international suppliers, service providers, customs brokers, freight forwarders, and internal stakeholders.
  • Lead supplier sourcing, evaluation, onboarding, and performance monitoring to support quality, delivery, cost, safety, and compliance expectations.
  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery terms, service levels, and commercial conditions in coordination with the Manager, Supply Chain and other approving authorities.
  • Support contract administration, preferred supplier arrangements, blanket purchase orders, and framework agreements where appropriate.
  • Coordinate with logistics and warehouse teams to support mobilizations, demobilizations, inventory availability, urgent shipments, cross-border movements, and site delivery requirements.
  • Assist with import/export coordination by ensuring procurement documentation supports customs clearance, tax requirements, and applicable Mexican trade and regulatory processes.
  • Review purchase orders and procurement records for accuracy, approval authority, budget alignment, tax treatment, supplier information, and compliance with company policies.
  • Monitor procurement performance, lead times, supplier performance, cost savings, inventory risk, and other key measures; prepare reports and recommendations for management.
  • Resolve purchasing, receiving, invoice, pricing, delivery, and supplier performance issues in collaboration with finance, warehouse, logistics, operations, and vendors.
  • Promote continuous improvement in procurement processes, controls, reporting, supplier communication, and system usage.
  • Maintain confidentiality with respect to Redpath, supplier, employee, client, commercial, and project information.

 

Education

Required: Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in Business Administration, Supply Chain, International Trade, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Mining, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.

Preferred: Degree in Supply Chain, Business, International Trade, Engineering, or Mining, with procurement, logistics, or supply chain certification such as CPSM, CPIM, CSCP, SCMP, or equivalent.

 

Work Experience:

Required: Minimum 5 years of progressive procurement, purchasing, logistics, inventory, or supply chain experience, preferably in mining, construction, heavy equipment, industrial services, or a related environment in Mexico.

Preferred: 7 or more years of procurement or supply chain experience, including supervisory responsibility, supplier negotiation, import/export coordination, inventory control, and support for remote mining or project sites.

 

Computer Skills

  • ERP procurement systems such as JDE, Oracle, SAP, or equivalent
  • Microsoft Office, with strong Excel skills for analysis, tracking, and reporting
  • SharePoint, Teams, and e-mail communication tools
  • Procurement dashboards, reporting tools, and document management systems

 

Knowledge Required

  • Strong knowledge of procurement, purchasing, sourcing, supplier management, inventory, logistics, and expediting practices.
  • Working knowledge of Mexican supplier markets, tax documentation, invoicing practices, and import/export support requirements.
  • Knowledge of mining, construction, maintenance, equipment, consumables, and site support terminology.
  • Strong negotiation, vendor relationship management, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to organize work, identify priorities, manage urgent requests, and make practical decisions under time pressure.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills in Spanish and English.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across operations, finance, logistics, warehouse, maintenance, and project teams.
