Position Summary

The Senior Accountant will be looking after monthly financial reporting, accounting and reconciliations relating to General Ledger, fixed assets, accounts receivable and any other accounts department functions as and when required. This position is an integral part of the team and requires the commitment to take full responsibility of accounting and reporting functions.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare & review monthly and quarterly financial reports including variance analysis for Head Office reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS accounting standards and GRASP.
  • Monthly subledger reconciliations relating to AP, AR, Fixed assets and Inventory.
  • Complete Balance Sheet monthly reconciliations for Botswana entities
  • Prepare annual statutory accounts.
  • Liaise with the external auditors by providing all requested information on timely basis.
  • Provide support and accounting advice to site management.
        • Daily review and posting of journal entries.
        • Prepare and submit weekly Cash forecast and AR reports to Head Office.
  • Train and mentor junior staff including Finance Officers for continuous process improvement and talent growth.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to provide financial insights and guidance.
  • Assist Group Reporting Manager with the ad hoc tasks as and when required.
  • Contribute to system improvements and changes.
  • Assist Tax manager when required with Tax effect accounting, Income tax returns and similar tax compliances.
  • In accordance with Redpath's Management Systems, perform the works as directed, with particular emphasis on Safety, Efficiency and Quality.
  • Ensure compliance with Redpath's Management Systems and the relevant statutory regulations.
  • Present for work satisfying the requirements of Redpath's “fitness for work” standards.
  • Strict adherence to the Redpath’s Philosophy, Guidelines for Success, Code of Conduct and Cardinal Rules.
  • Report immediately any incidents, accidents or near misses.
  • Any other duties that Redpath may direct you to perform, which you are capable of performing.

 

Person Specifications

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications

 

  • CA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent.
  • 5+ years’ experience in similar role with knowledge of reporting in large organisations including exposure to AASB 3, 15 and 16.
  • Exposure to group management reporting would be preferable.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills to maintain and create new models.
  • Experience with major ERP systems, preferably JD Edwards, Pronto, Oracle Fusion, Hyperion, Essbase and LeaseBox.
  • High attention to detail to maintain high standard of accuracy and integrity in all reports.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, handle multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Organised, pro-active and able to take initiative.
