About the Role

The Purchasing Lead is responsible for overseeing the purchasing function across all Redpath Australia sites, ensuring alignment with company policies and operational needs. This role involves managing the purchasing teams based in both the Brisbane Head Office and the Perth Office to deliver on business objectives, drive cost-saving initiatives, and optimise freight and logistics solutions. A key focus of the role is monitoring purchase order lead times to ensure alignment with project schedules and mining industry standards, while maintaining procurement compliance and supporting operational efficiency through accurate documentation and reporting.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee procurement of materials, supplies, and services per company policies.

  • Lead the national purchasing function across all Redpath Australia sites, ensuring adherence to procurement policies and procedures.

  • Manage and support purchasing personnel located in Brisbane and Perth to meet operational and project objectives.

  • Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities across purchasing and freight operations.

  • Monitor purchase order lead times to ensure alignment with project schedules and industry benchmarks.

  • Develop and maintain efficient procurement systems and processes in consultation with key stakeholders.

  • Maintain accurate records of quotes, supplier communication, and pricing history.

  • Conduct market analysis to support informed purchasing decisions and remain responsive to industry trends.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, contract requirements, and relevant legal and regulatory obligations.

  • Prepare regular reports on purchasing activity, lead time performance, and procurement metrics.

  • Work within approved budgets and contribute to cost management and value-for-money outcomes.

  • Collaborate with site and project teams to support inventory planning and stock level optimisation.

 

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Admin, or Finance.

  • Proven experience in a senior procurement role.

  • Experience in team leadership and development.

  • Supplier management and strategic sourcing expertise.

  • Strong procurement, inventory, and market analysis knowledge.

  • Excellent negotiation and ERP system skills.

  • Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Knowledge of legal and regulatory procurement requirements.

  • Budget management and cost-saving strategy experience.

  • Proven leadership and problem-solving abilities.

  • High attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Proactive, results-driven, and collaborative mindset.
