About the role:
The Operational Networking Specialist will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of industrial and operational networks across both surface fixed plant facilities and underground mining operations.
This role supports critical IT and OT infrastructure ensuring secure, reliable, and high-availability network communications for automation, remote telemetry and control systems within an underground mining and heavy industrial setting.
Key Responsibilities:

Design and implement robust industrial network architectures (LAN/WAN/WLAN) tailored to fixed plant and underground operational requirements.

Respond to and resolve network faults across remote and underground locations.

Collaborate with and support site based OT and electrical teams to troubleshoot network issues and investigate cybersecurity events.

Participate in or lead the networking components of infrastructure upgrades, automation deployments, and mine expansion projects.
Requirements:

Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in network engineering, preferably in industrial or mining environments.

Strong knowledge of Layer 2/3 networking, VLANs, routing, QoS, and network security principles.

Experience with wireless networks in underground and heavy industrial settings.

Understanding of OT systems, industrial protocols (Modbus, EtherNet/IP, ProfiNet), and integration requirements.

Experience in harsh environment networking (dust, heat, vibration) and fiber/copper installation standards.

Attention to detail to ensure all standards and compliance requirements are met;

Current Manual Drivers Licence (C Class)
