Basic function of the position:

The role as a Charge Up Operator is to assemble, position & detonate explosives in the underground mining environment.

Main duties and responsibilities:

• Interpret plans and record explosive usage for all types of firing undertaken;
• Identify and remedy misfires;
• Complete thorough re-entries to work areas;
• Charge development headings;
• Undertake stope preparation, charging and ring hook up;
• Ensure all materials are used and all waste is disposed of in the environmentally approved manner; and`
• Ensure security over explosives.

Minimum qualifications and experience required for this position:

• Driver’s Licence.
• First Aid & CPR certificate.
• Working at heights certificate
• Shotfiring/ underground Blasting License
• Minimum 5 years’ experience working in an underground mining environment
• In-depth and extensive knowledge and application of contemporary underground mining practices to maximise safety and productivity.
