MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Grade 12/ Matric

Valid Winding Engine Driver Certificate of Competency

Onsetter/ Banksman Certificate of Competency

Valid Medical Certificate of Fitness for mines

Computer literate

Valid First Aid

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Minimum 3-5 years’ experience operating a Winding Engine in Shafts and Equipping

Proven experience in the transportation of personnel, material, and rock through a shaft system

Experience in conducting a pre-shift inspections and reporting equipment defects

Equipment monitoring, fault identification and good record keeping

Teamwork and collaboration

Good communication and interpersonal skills

Adhere to all health, safety, environmental, and quality standards

Respond appropriately to emergency situations

Excellent attention to details and strong safety awareness

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Operate the winding engine in accordance with statutory requirements and mine procedures

Perform daily checks on the winding engine and associated equipment

Ensure winding speeds and loads remain within prescribed limits

Maintain effective communication with Banksman, Onsetter, Shaft Supervisors, and Engineering personnel

Assist maintenance personnel during planned maintenance and breakdown repairs

Isolate equipment when required and verify safe work conditions

Confirm shaft clearances before commencing winding operations

Report incidents and near misses according to company procedure
