Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, Americas, the Finance Controller – Redpath Mexicana is the senior finance leader that will play a key leadership position in the establishment and growth of Redpath Mexicana as a newly operating entity within the Redpath Group. The Finance Controller will be responsible for implementing finance, accounting, reporting and internal control processes in alignment with Redpath policies, systems and best practices. Working closely with external advisors, including EY, tax specialists, legal counsel and other consultants, the incumbent will help establish a compliant finance function, supporting the successful integration of systems, governance frameworks, statutory requirements and operational processes required for long-term business success. The role provides practical financial leadership to Mexico operations while ensuring accurate reporting, effective controls and alignment with Redpath group requirements.
The Finance Controller – Redpath Mexicana is responsible for the full range of budgeting, forecasting, project accounting, financial accounting, management reporting, statutory reporting support and finance process oversight for Mexico operations. The role works closely with operations, project controls, payroll, HR, procurement, legal, external accounting/tax advisors and regional finance leadership to support compliant, accurate and timely financial decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Manage and support the following finance functions for Redpath Mexicana:
- Project accounting, job costing and project-based financial reporting
- Customer billings, accounts receivable, collections and cash application
- Accounts payable, supplier account reconciliation and payment support
- Fixed assets, capitalization, depreciation and asset controls
- General accounting, month-end close, reconciliations and management reporting
- Tax, statutory reporting and compliance coordination with external advisors
- Coordinate with Redpath Shared Services, regional finance and local Mexico advisors to properly account for payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, tax, social security and statutory balances.
- Prepare monthly management statements and financial reporting packages for Redpath Mexicana.
- Support quarterly and annual financial statements, statutory reporting requirements and parent company reporting deliverables.
- Analyze and report on financial results, including revenue, costs, margins, working capital, cash flow, commitments and project performance.
- Ensure proper internal controls are in place and functioning across finance, project accounting, purchasing, billing, collections, payroll accounting and cash management activities.
- Develop, support and champion business process automation, finance system improvements and reporting standardization initiatives.
- Work closely with Mexico operations management to prepare timely budgets and forecasts, analyze and explain results, and ensure reliable data integrity with project controls personnel.
- Coordinate Mexican tax and statutory compliance activities, including SAT filings, electronic invoicing/CFDI processes, VAT/IVA, income tax/ISR, withholding obligations, payroll accounting, social security and employee profit-sharing accruals, where applicable.
- Liaise with external accounting firms, tax advisors, auditors, banks, legal counsel and government or regulatory contacts as required.
- Liaise with Redpath corporate and regional departments on finance policies, procedures, delegation of authority, compliance requirements and reporting expectations.
- Mentor, coach and provide leadership to members of the Redpath Mexicana finance and administrative team.
- Maintain confidentiality with respect to Redpath financial, employee, client, supplier and business information.
Qualifications:
Education
University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related discipline; professional accounting designation or Mexico-equivalent certification preferred
Work Experience
Minimum seven years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including experience supporting operations in Mexico
- Experience with financial reporting, month-end close, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, audit support and statutory compliance
- Experience in a project-based, mining, construction, industrial or remote-site environment
- Experience with Mexican accounting, tax, payroll-related financial requirements, electronic invoicing and statutory reporting practices
- Experience working in an ERP environment, preferably Oracle Fusion, with strong Excel-based analysis and reporting capability
- Experience with Oracle Fusion, Hyperion Financial Management, foreign currency transactions, intercompany transactions, mining services, underground operations and multi-country finance reporting considered an asset
Knowledge Required
- Strong working knowledge of Mexican accounting, tax, statutory and regulatory requirements relevant to Redpath Mexicana operations
- Understanding of SAT requirements, electronic invoicing/CFDI, digital accounting records, VAT/IVA, income tax/ISR, withholding obligations and payroll-related financial requirements
- Understanding of payroll accounting, IMSS, INFONAVIT, statutory benefits and employee profit-sharing accruals in Mexico, where applicable
- Excellent in a job cost and project accounting environment
- Clear understanding of IFRS reporting standards and ability to reconcile local requirements with Redpath group reporting expectations
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, business partnering and financial leadership skills
- Well-developed organizational, time management and project coordination skills
- Able to work well under pressure and meet reporting, tax, audit and operational deadlines
- High level of discretion, integrity and sound judgment when handling confidential financial and business information
- Effective bilingual communication skills in Spanish and English
- Ability to build effective relationships with operations leaders, corporate finance, external advisors, auditors, banks and regulatory contacts
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, multi-site environment
- Regular travel to project sites and offices within Mexico may be required
- Occasional international travel may be required to support regional finance, corporate, audit or project requirements
