MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Matric certificate/ equivalent

Section 13 Trade Test or Section 26d as a qualified electrician

MV certificate Compulsory

Understand Electrical schematics and able to read it

Effective fault finding

A valid driver’s license

Medically fit to work underground

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

5 years’ experience as an Electrician underground.

Equipment installation, repairs, and maintenance in Decline infrastructure

Workshop procedure, installation and maintenance

Legal requirement as per Mine Health and Safety act

Installation and maintenance of machinery including HT switchgear

Maintenance of quality engineering standards

Knowledge of environmental, health and safety standards

Knowledge of Mine Health & Safety Act and Regulations

Effective communication skill.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Report on all incidents and accidents.

Risk assessment must be carried out for each task.

Ensure tools and equipment are sufficient, in good condition and safe to use.

All legal inspections must be carried out according to the time intervals and a true report is recorded in a record book.

Report all acts on all unsafe conditions and unsafe acts.

Ensure that maintenance schedules are adhered to.

Ensure that the housekeeping in the workshop/working area is adequate to carry out maintenance work.

Responsible for carrying out the planned maintenance as per maintenance schedule.
