MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Matric certificate / equivalent

Relevant blasting competency certificate – mandatory

A valid driver’s license

Medically fit to work underground

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

3 years’ relevant underground experience with development charging background.

Strong attention to details and communication skills

Willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays as required.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Supporting the certified blaster in all activities related to the safe and efficient use of explosives within an underground development mining environment.

Assist with marking holes to be drilled according to the plan.

Preparing and positioning primers as required for the blast.

Connecting blasting circuits and assisting with circuit testing.

Testing for gases and ensure the work area is safe before and after the blast.

Taking lawful and reasonable instructions from the supervisor and participating in Mine safety programs.
