Dayan Contract Mining is seeking a Senior Advisor – Development to support the Underground Mine / Development Superintendent and Mine Captains in delivering safe, productive, and consistent underground development and production outcomes.
This role focuses on strengthening leadership accountability, crew effectiveness, and operational discipline across development headings and production activities. It supports delivery against Superintendent accountabilities for safety, production targets, workforce performance, and schedule adherence, through coaching, mentoring, and on‑site leadership support rather than training delivery.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Partnering with the Mine / Development Superintendent to support leadership effectiveness across underground development and production crews
- Coaching Mine Captains on people leadership, performance management, and production accountability
- Supporting consistent execution of development advance rates and production outputs through effective frontline leadership
- Assisting with crew capability, role readiness, and succession planning to maintain continuity across shifts and campaigns
- Identifying people and leadership risks that may impact development schedules, production targets, or safety outcomes
- Reinforcing consistent standards, expectations, and behaviors across development and production teams
- Providing assurance to the Superintendent that leadership systems, workforce capability, and compliance obligations are being effectively managed
- Acting as a trusted advisor on operational readiness, leadership maturity, and workforce performance risks
Qualifications and Work Experience:
- Degree in Mining Engineering with a professional designation or trade combined with extensive underground mining experience
- Minimum 10 years of underground leadership and supervisory experience
- An in-depth understanding of underground mine development, planning, and rock mechanics
- An in-depth understanding of mine safety legislation and regulations
- An in-depth understanding of underground mining practices, policies, procedures and standards
- An in-depth understanding of underground mining project management including budgeting, costing, scheduling, financial, evaluation and reporting
- An in-depth understanding of underground equipment and emerging technologies
- A sound understanding of human resource management and motivation practices and techniques
- Knowledge of computer programs including standard office programs
- Proven ability to manage mining projects including developing and reviewing plans, schedules and budgets, project implementation and oversight
- Proven leadership skills including the ability to lead and motivate individuals and teams
About You
You will have strong underground mining experience with credibility across development and production environments. You are comfortable operating at Superintendent and Mine Captain level, influencing outcomes through practical coaching, mentoring, and operational insight. You bring a strong understanding of how people's performance directly impacts Safety, Quality, Development, and Production outcomes, and shift‑to‑shift consistency.
