Boilermaker

 REPORTS TO:

Mechanical Foreman

 NATURE OF EMPLOYMENT:

Fixed Term Contract

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Matric certificate / equivalent

Section 13 Trade Test (Sec 26D) as a qualified Boilermaker

Competent Person B certification would be advantageous

Valid Driver’s License

Medically fit to work underground

Valid First Aid Certificate would be advantageous

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

At least 3 years’ underground experience as a qualified Artisan

Working knowledge of the Mine, Health & Safety Act and Regulations

Construction and erection of structures and infrastructure

Equipment installation, repair and maintenance

Workshop procedures with regards to flame cutting

Installation and maintenance of pipe columns & related equipment

Maintenance of quality engineering standards

Knowledge of environmental, health and safety standards, Working knowledge of the Mine Health & Safety Act and Regulations

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Report all incidents and accidents

Risk assessments must be carried out for each task

Ensure tools and equipment is sufficient, in good condition and safe to use

All legal inspections must be carried out according to the time intervals and a true report is recorded in the record book

Report and act on all unsafe conditions and unsafe acts

Be responsible for his/her sub-ordinates, maintenance schedules are to be adhered to, Operator pre-use checklist must be checked regularly and signed off

The individual is responsible to carry out the planned maintenance as per the maintenance schedule

Ensure that all the spares and tools are available for the service

Ensure that the housekeeping in the workshop/working area is adequate to carry out maintenance work
