MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Matric certificate / equivalent

Trade Test Certificate: Electrician (Red Seal).

National Diploma / Degree in Electrical Engineering will be advantageous.

Minimum 5-8 years' electrical maintenance experience in shaft-sinking / mining or construction environments.

Minimum 3–5 years in an Electrical Foreman in a sinking/mining environment.

Experience with medium-voltage and low-voltage systems.

Winder experience.

Experience supervising electrical maintenance teams.

Underground mining experience will be advantageous.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervise and coordinate all electrical maintenance activities.

Ensure preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance programmes are executed effectively.

Plan, schedule, and allocate resources for electrical maintenance activities.

Monitor equipment performance and electrical system reliability.

Coordinate breakdown response activities to minimize operational downtime.

Ensure electrical equipment is maintained according to manufacturer specifications and engineering standards.

Oversee installation, commissioning, modification, and upgrading of electrical systems.

Ensure electrical infrastructure remains safe, operational, and compliant.

Ensure compliance with: Mines, Quarries, Works and Machinery Act (Cap 44:02), Mines, Quarries, Works and Machinery Regulations, Employment Act (Cap 47:01), Workers' Compensation legislation, Company SHEQT policies and procedures, Applicable electrical engineering standards and Client-specific requirements

Ensure all electrical work is performed by authorized and competent personnel.

Maintain statutory electrical records and inspection registers.

Participate in regulatory inspections and audits.

Ensure lockout, tagout, isolation, and permit-to-work systems are adhered to.

Verify that electrical testing, inspections, and certifications are completed as required.

Promote and maintain a strong safety culture within the electrical department.

Conduct regular workplace inspections and electrical safety audits.

Participate in risk assessments, incident investigations, and root cause analyses.

Ensure safe work procedures are followed at all times.

Monitor compliance with environmental and quality standards.

Implement corrective actions arising from audits, inspections, and investigations.

Conduct daily toolbox talks and safety briefings.

Supervise electricians, electrical artisans, assistants, apprentices, and contractors.

Allocate work assignments and monitor performance.

Conduct performance reviews and provide employee coaching.

Support commissioning and handover of new equipment and systems.

Provide technical input for continuous improvement projects.

Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance reports.

Maintain maintenance records, job cards, and inspection documentation.

Report on: Equipment performance, Downtime, Maintenance activities, Safety performance and Workforce productivity
