MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Matric certificate / equivalent

Diploma / bachelor’s degree in: Mechanical Engineering / Electrical Engineering/ Electromechanical Engineering.

Government Certificate of Competence as an Engineer.

Registration with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) Botswana or eligibility for registration is highly advantageous.

Minimum 8–10 years as an appointed Engineer in a mining environment.

Minimum 8–10 years of related Experience in a sinking environment.

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Mechanical and/or electrical engineering principles.

Maintenance planning and asset management.

Engineering project management, Root cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies.

Engineering design and modification processes.

Engineering drawings and technical specifications.

Equipment performance analysis and optimization.

Engineering leadership and decision-making, Strategic and analytical thinking.

Project leadership and stakeholder management, Conflict resolution and problem-solving.

Continuous improvement and innovation, Strong analytical and technical problem-solving ability.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, High level of accountability and integrity.

Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities, Strong planning and organizational skills.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide engineering support and technical leadership to operational and maintenance teams.

Develop and implement engineering standards, procedures, and best practices.

Ensure all engineering work complies with approved specifications, standards, and regulatory requirements.

Review and approve engineering designs, drawings, and technical documentation.

Oversee engineering modifications, upgrades, and improvement projects.

Support operational planning through engineering input and technical advice.

Provide engineering expertise for plant, equipment, and infrastructure optimization.

Provide engineering support and technical leadership to operational and maintenance teams.

Monitor equipment reliability, availability, and performance.

Monitor maintenance KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Support condition monitoring and reliability-centered maintenance programs.

Develop and implement preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance strategies.

Review maintenance plans and ensure alignment with operational requirements.

Support shutdown planning, execution, and post-shutdown performance reviews.

Analyse equipment failures and implement root cause corrective actions.
